On May 17, 2023, at Hoa Lac, President of Vietnam National University Le Quan, issued a Decision to appoint Prof. DsC. Nguyen Dinh Duc as the Chairman of the University Council and to recognize Prof. Dr. Chu Duc Trinh as the Rector of the University of Engineering and Technology.

President of Vietnam National University signed Decision No. 1702/QD-DHQGHN to appoint Mr. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Member of the Party Committee of Vietnam National University Hanoi, Director of the Academic Affairs Department, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Member of the University of Engineering and Technology Council, as the Chairman of the University Council for the term 2022-2027. The Decision took effect from May 16, 2023. Additionally, Decision No. 1728/QD-DHQGHN appoints Mr. Chu Duc Trinh, Deputy Chairman of the University Council, Deputy Rector, as the Rector of the University of Engineering and Technology. This Decision takes effect from May 17, 2023.

Giving a speech on the new mission, Prof. Dsc. Nguyen Dinh Duc, the new Chairman of the Council of the University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University, expressed his pleasure and gratitude to the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of Vietnam National University for facilitating staff to develop, train, and gain experience in management positions at Vietnam National University. Prof. DsC. Nguyen Dinh Duc, one of two scientists in the top 10,000 influential scientists in the world, has just been recognized as the Chairman of the Council of University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University. Prof. DsC. Nguyen Dinh Duc spent 2 terms as Director of the Academic Affairs Department (undergraduate and graduate) of Vietnam National University.

For 4 consecutive years since 2019, Professor Nguyen Dinh Duc has been among the top 10,000 scientists with the best scientific citations, and in 2022 ranked 94th in the world in the field of Engineering.

Prof. DsC. Duc is also one of three professors of Vietnam National University to be recognized as a Meritorious Teacher of the education sector on the occasion of 40 years of educational career (1982-2022); Outstanding Teacher Award of Vietnam National University in 2022.

He was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal in 2016 and the Second Class Labor Medal in 2022.

As Director of the Academic Affairs Department of VNU, Prof. DsC. Nguyen Dinh Duc has made many important initiatives and contributed to the development of Vietnam National University such as developing talent, honors, and international standardized programs.

Prof. DsC. Nguyen Dinh Duc is the leader of a professional research group on Advanced Materials and Structures of Vietnam National University.

For many years, he has been Vice Chairman of Vietnam Mechanics Association, member of the editorial board of Mathematics – Physics magazine – Vietnam National University, Vietnam Mechanics Journal (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), Science and Technology Magazine (Ministry of Science and Technology) and is a member of the Editorial Council of 10 prestigious international ISI journals.

Prof. DsC. Nguyen Dinh Duc has made important contributions to the field of Engineering and Technology of Vietnam National University and ranked 386th worldwide in the QS rankings in 2022.

Prof. Dr. Chu Duc Trinh has worked for 24 years at the University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University.

Before assuming the position of Rector of the University of Engineering Technology, he has experienced various positions such as lecturer, Vice Dean of Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, University of Engineering Technology; Head of Electronics and Telecommunications Practice Room, Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, University of Engineering and Technology; Deputy Party Secretary, Vice Dean, then Head of Department of Microelectronics and Microsystems, Secretary, Dean of Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications, University of Engineering and Technology; Vice Rector of University of Engineering and Technology.

During his work, the new Rector of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Chu Duc Trinh has received many achievements and awards from Ministries, Departments, Central Authorities and Vietnam National University.
